The Continental Hotel
The Continental Sorrento, known affectionately as ‘The Conti’, has long been a Mornington Peninsula icon. Built in 1875 by the inimitable philanthropist, thespian and entrepreneur George Coppin, The Continental has a rich and colourful history. Meticulously restored to honour this legacy, The Continental has been transformed into a multi-award-winning lifestyle precinct that beautifully blends its rich history with contemporary sophistication.
The Continental includes three signature restaurants and one bar, four event spaces with ocean views, the 5-star Intercontinental Hotel, and Aurora, an award-winning state-of-the-art wellness centre.
The Continental’s signature restaurant is celebrated chef Scott Pickett’s Audrey’s, winner of 2024’s Best Pub Restaurant at the Australian Hotels Association Awards. In a light-flooded room with breathtaking ocean views and tasteful mint-coloured velvet chairs, you can enjoy an exquisite menu with the best produce from land and sea. Named for Scott’s grandmother, who inspired his love of food, Audrey’s provides an elevated and authentic dining experience with old-world charm worthy of a visit at any time.
For a more casual yet equally elegant experience, the recently refurbished Atrium offers a European-inspired ambience with a fresh new menu. The soaring glass ceiling, lush greenery and suspended glass artwork add to the impressive air of glamour. Sip a cocktail or wine at the chic bar or relax in the comfortable wicker chairs as you dine from the bite-size menu, perfect for shared grazing or a pre-dinner snack and drink.
On the ground floor for a more casual dining option, The Conti Bar captures the essence of laid-back coastal living. The stone-fired pizzas are a crowd favourite, and reimagined pub classics use the freshest local produce. A 30-day process is used to prepare the finest cuts of meat. The seasonal Locals Menu is designed to look after the most loyal patrons in the colder months. Live music adds to the warm and lively atmosphere here.
A night of fun awaits at Barlow, with an extensive drinks selection shaken and stirred by expert mixologists and music to get you moving. This late-night bar showcases different DJs and varied entertainment, along with expertly crafted cocktails and a dynamic vibe that makes it an ideal place for a fun night out with friends. The mixologists bring a theatrical flair to each drink, and a range of outstanding entertainment including comedy nights, ‘jazz and shiraz’ and resident DJ MorningMaxwell ensures an amazing evening.
The Continental hosts a variety of special events throughout the year. From sunset drinks to wine dinners, there’s always something happening at The Conti. The highly anticipated summer schedule includes special events for Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in all areas.
Marketing and partnerships manager Britt Groth says: “We’re not just raising the curtain on entertainment; we’re crafting an unforgettable performance rooted in our heritage. George Coppin envisioned The Continental as the ultimate entertainment destination on the Peninsula, and today we honour his legacy by weaving a consistent and captivating symphony of experiences year-round.”
With so many exceptional experiences under one roof, The Continental is the Peninsula’s premier lifestyle precinct.
