Devilbend Farm Beer

This venue has curated the flawless combination of a relaxed atmosphere, premium food, outstanding service and exceptional beer. The 34ha property in Tuerong was bought by fourth-generation Mornington Peninsula farmers Mike and Paula Shaw.

Their converted apple shed provides rustic charm with raw exposed beams and corrugated iron roofing repurposed to clad the walls.  The construction details pay homage to the property’s past owners.

“It gives people something different,” said general manager Jacob Cowley-Smith. “It’s why I fell in love with the project to begin with. We’re a working farm, growing hops, barley and wheat for our beer and raising cattle for the restaurant.  We focus on sustainability and supporting local producers, bringing you a food and drink offering that reflects the very best of the Mornington Peninsula.”

The bar has 10 beer taps, including four 840-litre serving tanks pouring pale ale, mid-strength, dark ale and lager.  Devilbend also produces a steady stream of seasonal beers available on tap and in cans at the venue, and a selection of local wines.

“We’re one of only a few breweries in Australia with a koelschip,” said head brewer Michael Stanzel. “The koelschip is a traditional method of cooling wort, while also allowing the wort to absorb yeast and local bacteria in the air around the premises, which creates a unique flavour.”

Steak Night is every Thursday with a beer or wine paired with beef farmed on site, delivering unmatched quality. Soak up the ambience in the beer garden while the children are entertained on the playground, or experience the Oktoberfest celebrations throughout October.  For information on Oktoberfest events, seasonal menu changes, their membership program, or to shop, visit their website.
