Celebrating 45 years of farming is a pretty special achievement, but Somerville Egg Farm is a pretty special place. This family-run business has been operating for generations and embodies a way of life that honours deeply rooted farming traditions. The mission of the Napolitano family is to nurture the land through regenerative farming practices, ensuring the farm flourishes for decades more to come. The family firmly believe that content, happy hens lay the best eggs. Hereß you'll find chickens basking in the sun, freely exploring the pastures and pecking the earth.
The delightful farm shop is worth the trip, and not just for some of the freshest and most nutritious genuine free-range chicken eggs on the Peninsula. At Somerville Egg Farm you can also purchase eggs from ducks, quails, and even occasionally emus. That makes for one large omelette! While you are there, explore the range of the other wholesome handmade and locally grown produce, including honey, potatoes, herbs, apples, fresh-cut flowers, and Island Pasta's small-batch pasta and sauces. You can also buy the same chicken feed that the family feed their own hens, while the aged chicken manure ready for the garden is always popular with gardeners too. This warm and welcoming shop feels like stepping back in time in the most wonderful way. Bring the children to experience a genuine functioning farm, and you might also see the goats, alpacas, emus and Leia the maremma dog that make up this rest of this lively, warm and welcoming farm family.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4.30pm; Saturdays 8am-12.30pm; closed Sundays and all the main public holidays
