Tallarida Vineyard & Winery

Tallarida Vineyard & Winery in Boneo is on a picturesque 10ha. Established in the mid-1980s, it’s owned and operated by the Tallarida family after Rocco Tallarida purchased the property to pursue his passion for making wine. As a side project to Tallarida Engineering, Rocco designed and manufactured domestic-scale wine presses and expanded to import all elements of wine equipment from Italy’s top manufacturers.

“My grandfather was always welcoming people to his table and loved being surrounded by his family and friends,” says Rocco’s granddaughter, Gabriella. “He was a brilliant storyteller, very generous, and had a great sense of community. As Rocco passed away in 2021, these elements were essential in creating the brand and developing the guest experience at Tallarida.”

Tallarida is now managed by Rocco’s family, whose customer service is known for being sincere and personable – a nod to Rocco’s vision. Paying homage to their Italian heritage, they focus on authentically welcoming visitors.

Admire views of Arthurs Seat by the vines or enjoy an estate tasting or a glass of wine, gin or limoncello among the barrels of the old winery, complemented by the grazing menu that’s available on days the cellar door is open. Bask in the sun on the deck or bring a picnic rug; dogs on a lead are welcome.

Here the sandy soil of the Boneo plains leads to an intriguing minerality, allowing for naturally elegant wines. Having produced benchmark and award-winning chardonnay, recently Tallarida has transitioned to making sparkling wines, alongside aromatic pinot noir and pinot grigio.

Visit the website for more information and Art X Wine event dates that showcase Australian artists. The corporate events packages are notable, where groups can book out the cellar door midweek and have the property all to themselves.

Opening hours:  Friday to Monday 11.30am-5pm
